![]() "From 20th century American writers such as Frank O'Hara, Philip Levine and Allen Ginsberg to contemporary poets such as Bob Hicok and Nick Flynn, I am inspired by a wide variety of modern poetry. In the baker's terms, my poetry is a realist muffin doused in a syrup of abstract expressionism and served with a thin side of surrealism. My other artistic ventures include writing dream pop music with my band and creating visual art." |
![]() Alessandra Davy-Falconi is a senior at BU Academy, where she is an editor of its literary magazine, The Muse. Her writing is influenced by anything and everything; she writes purely to tell stories in as many ways as possible. |

About the Helen Creeley Poetry Prize |
Helen Creeley is Robert Creeley's late sister. Like her brother, she was an award winning poet. The Helen Creeley Prize honors Massachusetts High School students each year. This year each of our thirty-five student poets, representing a dozen high schools, submitted three poems. A small group of those contestants were invited to read their work before our judges. A small group of finalists, selected based on their performance at the first reading, were invited to compete at a second reading. Our winners and runners up were selected from among those finalists. |
