"Untitled" by Julien Blundell

She watches the news for consistency,
And the blue they wallpaper around her life,

He watches romantic movies
To know what to do if he ever
Sat alone with her on a pier,

You listen to the weather channel
For predictions of

Truth,

As if they knew the
Meteorology of a heart.
(Or whether the smiling sun
Is actually laughing at us today)

If life were colors, I'd be the static of the T.V. screen,

And if life were sound, I'd be the tick
Of a broken clock as you lay
In bed expecting tomorrow to change

I keep counting down, ticking away the numbers,
Without climax.
And I'll keep ticking until
The wallpaper peels off the walls
And the paint chips
And the static on the T.V. simmers out
And I'm finally set back to

Zero,

Regardless of whether

You ever get up from that bed again.
